Bartram Mowers is a multi million pound company that has been selling and servicing domestic and professional mowers for nearly 40 years. Based in East Anglia, Bartram Mowers is one of the best know companies in the area for supplying professional mowers to hotels, golf courses and other service industries across the region. Employing more than 30 staff across 2 sites the company has seen many changes over its history including a major entry into the on-line sale of lawn care products.

Inspired Change has worked alongside Senior Managers and staff within the business to understand, review and suggest improvements to staff engagement. A thorough review of every individual’s job description and appraisal process highlighted some major opportunities. This together with a full company team building and communication day before Christmas has set the company up for a good start for 2011.

One of the first things Rob suggested was a slight reorganisation of our Senior Management Team which helped us align ourselves and play to our strengths in different areas. He then followed this up by reviewing our job descriptions and appraisal documentation. This allowed us to have very focused conversations with our staff about what was expected from them, where they were succeeding and where they needed to focus more.

The offsite Team Day was a great opportunity to talk directly to all the staff about how the company was doing and plans for the next 12 months. It was also an excellent opportunity for all the staff to work in mixed groups to share their experiences of working at Bartrams and how they could contribute to its future success.

Over the past 3 months we have seen a real improvement in the engagement in staff and will help us to continue to build on previous years during these challenging times.”
