Much of our work with HR consultancy and management, learning and development and coaching is based on Transactional Analysis.
What is TA?
Transactional Analysis (TA) is the study and practice of interaction between two or more people. Having observed what is happening in a situation, we use the information we have gathered to alter behaviour accordingly – by actively noticing what is really going on, participants are empowered to change negative situations. This leads to improved relationships and communication, as well as better results through authentic delivery.
We use TA as the basis for work we do regarding people, the way they interact, learn, lead and perform. Too often, interaction in companies comes from the perspective of ‘parent’ to ‘child’. The aim of TA is to help people communicate as ‘adult to adult’, dropping any non-productive patterns they may have based on authority, status or job role.
HR procedures can easily end up being tools to control, supervise and reprimand staff. This quickly leads to directing from a parental perspective. We apply TA because people invariably respond better when they are given responsibility and are treated like adults.
